Right to live in a property fit for human habitation.
Your landlord (and agent) must ensure your property is safe, healthy and free from things that may cause you serious harm. Serious issues may include; your house being too cold; problems with the supply of hot and cold water; and insufficient natural light or ventilation.
If your property is not ‘fit for human habitation’, you may start court action to demand repairs be carried out to put right health and safety concerns, and ask for compensation for having been made to live there whilst it was not fit. Click ‘enforce this right’ for our simple guide on how.
